HPD announces development partners and plans for more than 300 affordable homes on the north shore of Staten Island

The Sisters of Charity Housing Development Corporation (SCHDC) is delighted to announce our selection by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) to help transform a City-owned site in Stapleton, Staten Island into an entirely affordable housing complex.

Collaborating with Monadnock Development and The Master Group, we will create 360 affordable homes, over half of which will serve very low-income households, with 54 reserved for previously homeless households.

The development will also host an all-inclusive health and social program for seniors by ArchCare, a medical space for Richmond University Medical Center, and a counseling center for the YMCA of Staten Island, aligning with our commitment to mission-driven, affordable housing and community well-being.

In addition to addressing housing needs, we are focused on delivering a project that incorporates resilience, inclusivity, and sustainability. The design will integrate innovative measures to address climate hazards and promote active lifestyles. We wish to express our gratitude to HPD, the City of New York, Council Member Debi Rose, and all city leaders and partners for their support. Together, we’re shaping a more equitable city.
